We are Kim, Holly, and Anna.
Together we have over 30 years experience homeschooling in the Lynchburg area. We are creating Lynchburg’s premier used curriculum sale - a place where you can find the homeschool materials you need at a fair price, and a place where you can sell the materials you no longer need to recoup your investment.
Giving back to our community is an important value for the Curriculum Closet Sale
As homeschooling moms ourselves, we know what it’s like to search for a good deal on curriculum, to purchase something we had high hopes for but it just didn’t work, and to struggle to resell the curriculum we didn’t need anymore.
It’s not just about the money
We all love books! We can’t bear the thought of throwing them out or putting them in a pile at Goodwill. We just want to get them into the hands of people who will use and enjoy the material-even if it means we sell at a lower price.
Supporting the local community
Our sellers are amazing! From offering high quality materials at low starting prices, to further discounting items at the 50% off sale, to then donating unsold items, our sellers are incredibly generous.
At the end of our sale, after consignors have a chance to pick up any unsold items, the remaining items are left for our free (gleaning) hour. This is a time when local homeschool moms, public and private school teachers, grandparents, and supportive friends can come and select books and materials for FREE to support students. Whether it’s a chance to try some new curriculum, pick up some extra math manipulatives or science lab ideas, or even start a new elective, being able to add resources for free helps us all on our limited budgets.
After the sale
What about any items left after the sale? We box up remaining children’s books and general parent resources and donate them to the Friends of the Timbrook Library in Campbell County. This group provides support for Timbrook Library programs and services. Their involvement in the library directly supports the community through funding of supplies for the library and various programs throughout the year. Every year they provide monetary support to the Summer Reading Program.
Last year, leftover science supplies were donated to Onward Christian Academy, a local homeschool hybrid program and 501c3 organization.
Remaining curriculum materials are shipped to Tailored Homeschool, a group that provides free homeschool materials to missionaries and families experiencing financial hardship.
Your generosity matters!
We are honored to help you not only recoup some of your homeschooling costs, but also to get books into the hands of students and families who will appreciate them. If you know of other organizations that would benefit from curriculum and book donations please reach out to us at curriculumclosetsale@gmail.com and we’d love to talk about how we can partner together.
