Seven Easy Steps to Join The Curriculum Closet Sale

1. Sign up to sell!

Register here to become a consignor! Also, please join our email list to get the all the information about when registration opens and updates as our sale approaches.

2. Collect your items

It’s time to go to your bookshelf, schoolroom, basement, closet, and find ALL the books and curriculum you have stored away. This might take awhile if you have homeschooled for a few years. Enjoy the process of looking through old curriculum, but also prepare yourself to say good-bye to these items.

Last year, we had buyers looking for certain categories that were under stocked! Here is a wishlist of items buyers wanted more of:

  • Preschool/Kindergarten materials

  • Picture books & easy readers

  • Games and puzzles

We are also looking to expand our collection of children’s books that are not homeschool specific. Is your child finished reading that Magic Tree House collection? Do you have some young adult novels that won’t be reread? Bring those to this year’s sale as well!

3. Check the quality of your items

We aim to offer high quality items at our sale. Ask yourself if the items you have would be something you would purchase-do you have all items/manipulatives in a set? Are things marked/written in? Consider the condition of your items. If you have items that are older editions, have excessive wear, have writing in more than ten pages, or are incomplete, please consider placing them on our free table instead of selling them.

4. Organize/prep your items

Find all the items that belong to a curriculum and place them in a pile. Organize them either by grade or subject-we’ll have both categories at the sale. If you are selling educational toys or manipulatives, make sure all the pieces are there. Sets will need to be bound-in gallon Ziploc bag or box-with the most prominent book/item in the front of the stack. If you have any sets that are missing items, consider selling these items separately or putting them on the free table. Buyers last year requested that more items be sold separately than in sets.

5. Enter items in the Consignor database.

Once your items are in order, it’s time to list them in the database. You will need to provide information on each item-you have two lines to describe the item on the tag- and the item’s price. Pricing curriculum can be difficult based upon the edition and condition of the item(s). If you are in doubt, look up the book/item in question online and see what the current price is for that item. As you are selling this as a used item, consider selling your item for 50-70% off the new price.

6. Print and attach tags to all items

You will print and place tags on each item in more than one location. Please follow our detailed instructions closely so that you will receive compensation for your sold items.

7. Drop off and pick up items at the sale

As a consignor, you will sign up for a thirty minute time slot to drop off your curriculum, usually two days before the sale begins. On the time slot you choose, prepare to spend that entire time organizing your books and placing them on their designated tables. Any unsold items that you did not choose to donate can be picked up the day after the sale.

What will YOU receive after the sale?

A check will be mailed to you in 2-3 weeks for 60% of the sales (less your registration fee) from your curriculum!
