Preparing Your Items For
The Curriculum Closet Sale
1. Enter Items In The Database
Log into your consigner account and enter each item you will be selling. Apply the most specific category you can and be honest about the condition of the item. Pricing curriculum can be difficult based upon the edition and condition of the item(s). If you are in doubt, look up the book/item in question online and see what the current price is for that item. As you are selling this as a used item, consider selling your item for 50-70% off the new price.

2. Gather Supplies For Tagging Your Items
WHITE copy paper
Scotch tape
Gallon ziploc bags
Rubber bands
3. Print Your Tags.
You will print and place tags on each item in more than one location. Please follow instructions closely so that you will receive compensation for your sold items.
Use the right paper - Normal white copy paper works great. Cardstock tends to make the barcodes blur so please use regular copy paper.
Don't print too dark - It is better to print a little light than too dark. Do not print on the "High Quality" setting, print on the normal setting. This is especially true for inkjet printers. The edges of a barcode need to be crisp.
Align your print cartridges - Printer cartridges in inkjet printers can get out of alignment, especially when you change cartridges. This can cause the edge of the barcode not to be clean and straight. There should be a utility that came with your printer software that allows you to align the print cartridges.
Don't "scale" the printing - when actually printing the barcodes/tags, do not adjust the scaling on the page. They should print at 100%, just like the tag is generated. If you use a "shrink to fit" option, or if you change page scaling to something other than 100% it can adjust the size of the barcode, which adjusts the "gaps" between the dark bars and can cause the barcode to be unscannable.
Print to .pdf format - If you have problems with the format of the tag in the browser you are using, try printing the tags in .pdf format. Then print the .pdf image of your tags from a different software program.
Reprint any necessary tags You can choose “Print Selected Tags” and individually select any tags you need to reprint to make duplicates, correct the paper color, or reprint for any other reason. The icons on this page indicate whether you are discounting and/or donating that item.
4. Label And Organize Your Items
Affix labels by using Scotch tape or any other easily removable tape on the right and left sides of the label. Do not cover the barcode with tape as the price scanner may not be able to accurately read the consigner code.
You can print duplicate labels to place on the inside of the item, preferably the inside front cover of a book. These items should also be taped in the same manner.
Gallon plastic bags or boxes- You will need to bag all items sold as a set in plastic bags with a rubber band securing it. If you have a large set (e.g., Sonlight kits), you can place them in a box wrapped in cellophane for easy perusal. Put the most easily identifiable item of the set in the front. After the set is organized, place the label on the front of the bag as well as inside the items if printing duplicate tags. We suggest printing and affixing duplicate tags to all sets. Any sets sold at the Curriculum Closet sale require an itemized list of all included pieces. Secure these items with the rubber band but allow the ability upon checkout to confirm all items are included. The Curriculum Closet is not responsible for any items that are not secured in a set. The Curriculum Closet also reserves the right to discount an item should items be missing from a set.
Note: previous buyers have preferred most items be available individually instead of sets, so consider carefully how to sell your items!
Sort your items by category to make distribution at drop-off go faster. You will be responsible for placing each item at the appropriate table. Bring your items in containers that allow for ease at drop-off, such as sturdy cardboard boxes.
For smaller sets, items can be grouped in a gallon size ziploc with all contents visible. Use another piece of paper or index card to make a list of contents if they cannot all be seen while the bag is closed. Seal the end with packing tape to prevent pieces from being lost or separated.
Larger sets can be tagged and then wrapped in clear plastic wrap, sealed with packing tape or rubber bands to secure all items together. Duplicate tags can be used on the additional items to increase the chance they can be reunited if the set is separated during the sale.
5. Drop Off Your Items
Drop off for consignors is Tuesday, April 29th from 1:00 - 4:30pm. You (or your representative) may arrive anytime during this window. When you arrive, you can park at the curb temporarily-look for the drop off spaces marked for our sale- to bring boxes inside the door. After your boxes are inside the building, please park your car in our parking lot and check in with the Curriculum Closet ladies. You will spend the remaining time sorting your items at the appropriate tables. We will be there to help you. Plan on staying up to 30 minutes to successfully check-in, drop off, and distribute your items in their designated areas.
